In India there are 8 Union Territories have they are Andaman and Nicobar, Delhi, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Puducherry. The three Union Territories having its own legislature are Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Puducherry. In this article we are going to see about capital, official language, tribal groups, chief minister, governor, area, etc of Union Territories of India.
Andaman and Nicobar:
- The capital of this Island is Port Blair. The official language of this island is Hindi and English. The The chief communication languages are Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Nicobarese, Kurukh, Munda and Kharia. The Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar is D K Joshi.
- The major tribes in this island are Jarawa, Sentinelese, Onges, Great Andamanese and Shompen.
- This Island is located in the Bay of Bengal. This Island is composed of 265 big and small islands. It covers an area about 8,249 km square.
- The 10 degree channel separates Andaman from Nicobar Islands.

Delhi:
- The capital of India and Delhi is New Delhi. Delhi is surrounded by the state of Haryana on three sides and by Uttar Pradesh to the east.
- The Chief Minister of Delhi is Arvind Kejriwal. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is Anil Baijal.
- Delhi is one of the oldest cities in the world. It covers an area about 1,484 square kilometres.
- The official language of Delhi is Hindi and English. The chief communication languages are Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and English.
- As per 2011 census most populated Union Territory in India is Delhi.
Chandigarh:
- The capital of Chandigarh is Chandigarh. Chandigarh is also capital for both Punjab and Haryana.
- The Administrator of Chandigarh is Shri.V.P. Singh Badnore.
- The official language of Chandigarh is English. The chief communication languages are Hindi, Punjabi and English.
- The area of Chandigarh is about 114 square kilo meter. It is surrounded by Punjab and Haryana.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu:
- The capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu is Daman. It covers an area about 603 square kilo meter.
- The Daman and Diu is located in Gujarat. And the Dadra and Nagar Haveli is located inbetween of Maharastra and Gujarat.
- The Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu is Daman is Shri Praful Patel.

Ladakh:
- The capital of Ladakh is Leh and Kargil. It covers an area about 59,146 square kilo meter.
- It’s official languages are Hindi and English. The chief communication languages are Hindi, Ladakhi and Purgi.

Lakshadweep:
- It is a group of islands. It is located in Arabian sea. This island is divided into three they are Amindivi Islands, Cannanore Islands and Minicoy Island.
- The nine degree channel separates the minicoy island from other two islands (Amindivi Islands, Cannanore Islands). It covers an area about 32.62 square kilo meter.
- The capital of Lakshadweep is Kavaratti. The Administrator of Ladakh is Shri Praful Patel.
- The official languages of Lakshadweep are Malayalam and English. The chief communication languages are Malayalam, English, Jeseri and Dhivehi.
- The major tribes of this islands are Aminidivis, Koyas, Malmis and Melacheris.
Puducherry:
- The capital of Puducherry is Pondicherry. The Union Territory of Puducherry consists of four small unconnected districts they are Puducherry district (293 km sq), Karaikal district (161 km sq) and Yanam district (20 km sq) on the Bay of Bengal and Mahe district (9 km sq) on the Laccadive Sea, covering a total area of 483 km square.
- Puducherry district and Karaikal district are an enclave of Tamil Nadu. Mahe district is an enclave of Kerala. Yanam district is an enclave of Andhra Pradesh.
- The Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry is Tamilisai Soundararajan.
- It’s official languages are Tamil, English and French. The chief communication languages are Tamil, Malayalam in Mahe and Telugu in Yanam.
- The major tribes of Pondicherry are Kattunayakan, Malalikuravan, Yerukkula and Kuruman.
